It's a strange feeling tonight at Hughenden Road. This is the last night I sleep here, the last after 4 years, after 1543 days. The room is empty...there is me, the bedsheets, trousers and a shirt for tomorrow morning, my shoes and a Fiorentina picture attached to the wall...this is my present for the next taker of the room.. That's it...! All the rest is there, silent, still, empty, sad.
It was a great time the one spent here, Rupert and Charlotte were two fantastic landlords, their children very sweet and well mannered. Sometimes I had problems with my flatmates, but I don't care now...this is time for good memories, as when we slept 4 of us in this bedroom : me, Tommy, Mone and Bencio, as all the time friends came along to watch some football on tv...How to forget Carla and her boiled vegetables, Andrew and his cool yellow Honda to finish off with Biri and his kindness?
At the very beginning I wasn't sure, it took a bit to get convinced, but soon I realized that I ended up in one of the nicest street overall in Bristol, and that the flat, with a bit of work could have become great...and I started to adore it!!
I was in the smaller bedroom for over two years, and I was fine, I moved into this one only in September 2007, and I loved it right away... its view is simply stunning. I felt it was mine...I still feel it...! But it's not. I have mine though...and that's where it becomes odd. I'm excited by the new place, but yet I am sad to leave this one. I can't describe it...I am not even able to write a proper post so is full of thoughts my mind...
Who knows how will I feel in few hours...? I am not good at farewell...I will go downstairs for the very last time, few step, the key left on to a little table, a door to open, then another one, the last one for the last time. I think I will walk away, not turning back. This will be history. Will be a big chunk of my memories, of my greatest memories.
Since I moved in just over 3 years ago,I have shared the flat with very many flatmates...
Hilary,
an English girl form Sheffield and Asim with his wife Aljia were my
first fellows in this adventure.... Asim was from Pakistan, Aljia
Russian.
I didn't spend that much time with them, cos they all moved out within a month. I didn't really like Hilary, while Asim was a nice guy, even though sometimes cultural differences were difficult to overcome...
He was very welcoming though...and also after he moved out he kept on calling me for a while...
After
2 months in which I lived alone Carla and Sally joined the house. We
became friends quite quickly and we had really a good fun together...and good time...
Unfortunately Sally moved out few months later, replaced by Emily.
Emily was a nice and cute girl...but sometimes so able to get on my
nerves...with her brass!!! :) But we were friend at the end of the day...With Carla and Emily we went to Italy for a weekend...and that's a good laugh as well...
Emily lived in the flat for 1 year ish. When she moved out, it was
shocking to realize that from that moment on, the majority would have
been made by males...I was now used to live only with girls...! Andrew nevertheless was a really
nice guy, a good cook (I still wish I can have his delicious fish-pie),
and in particular a pilot.
We tried to plan a flight together for a while...but before we had time
to realize it, Mr Ryan (Air is his last name :) ) called him to be part
of his empire...I so hate Ryan Air...! For an Andrew who moved out there
was another one
who moved in. We have never been big friends, but he made of simplicity
his strength...many times he surprised me...really many times. And
he was happy...a positive guy...always...
The shocking news was beginning of March 2007, when Carla, after 20
months , decided to move with his boyfriend Tom...That was sad, we were,
and we still are, good friends...and the idea of
not seeing her boiling her vegetables every single night was pretty
bad...and annoying...
Matt moved in...and that was the first time since I am here that 3
blokes live in this flat... three weeks ago was time for Andrew to
leave the flat...
The new flatmate is called Jamie. I don't know him very well yet...but he seems a nice guy...and I am sure he his...
Sometime I wonder if I'd prefer to live on my own...rather than having to share everything...with all the problems involved...It's hard to say...isn't it? Cos if it can be desirable to be responsible for everything in the house...not dealing with a dirty kitchen rather than a dirty loo, I think it is also nice to come back home from work and meet someone to talk to...rather than spend the rest of the evening lost in your thoughts...or drown in the things to do...Watching TV or surfing on Internet...
If it happens that any of you guys read this post a big big big hello....and please get in touch...! :)
