...and it was indeed...! Just...just half a degree above 30, for the hottest day of the last 3 years...! It has been hot the whole week, with rain on and off and sunshine otherwise. Thunderstorms are expected for tomorrow...It will start to cool down now...more than 10 C˚ in couple of days...back in line with the average for beginning of July...! Cold winter followed by hot summer...mild winter followed by warm summer...something that is maybe worth analyzing more in details...
I think this summer will bring more days like this...It's not a forecast, it is only based on nothing, just my sensation... The forecast was done Saturday night...and it was right...!
Someone said it... I heard it on the Radio, on TV and I saw it on the map...! It will be a very hot week, for sure...and it might go over 30˚ for the first time since 2006...! We have time until Friday, then it will cool down... I am not too sure we are gonna brake the wall of the thirties, but if so I think Wednesday could be the day...! I am expecting some heavy scattered showers as well for next week... It is definitely gonna be interesting...
Today high was 25.2˚ and I was feeling really boiling... How I could I cope with summer in Florence in the past I don't know...!!
It won't be too hot (we don't like when's too hot anyway, do we...?), but it will be plenty of sunshine and, for once, during the weekend...! So a good chance to go to the Downs, get some rest, bring some food and spend the day there. They talk about a hot wave that will hit the UK at some point in the summer. I do not believe too much to it, but it is possible. Last two summers were terrible, plenty of rain and cool temperatures. Enough to say that last day temperature raised above 30 Celsius was the 25th of July 2006 when the high 31.9. So this is a start, this is the first taste of summer 2009.
Here I am, back in the wet, windy and cold Bristol. It was quite a dramatic drop from yesterday’s 38 Celsius to today’s 14. I spent last few days in Misano, on the east coast, not far from Rimini. It was me, my mum and my dad. I have been going there for my holidays since I have born really but I still enjoy it!! Well fixed on my mind are the past, never ending summers, with my grandparents: June, July, August, sometimes beginning of September as well, always there and never bored, no matter what age. And so it happened that I got very many friends over there, people that I met throughout all this time: most of them are Italian, but not only. Time goes by for everyone though; life takes different paths for each of us making impossible to gather all at the same time of the year. Some fellows are not coming over any more, some others I rarely meet by now, even if I have info about them, someone else instead, at least for a bit, is always there and so it is then nice and interesting to catch up on the latest gossip on their life, sometime with some big big news...Unfortunately this year there was also a very bad one about a friend who is no longer with us...
A visit per year (at least) is a must, otherwise the year would not be the same...This year, because of California I could spend only 3 days, last year I went there for almost 3 weeks...it depends from the year really....Three days are nevertheless far too short to stay there...I wish I have been there longer, and it is with a little of bitterness that I made my way home yesterday afternoon...
Saturday 5th of July...right in the middle of the summer...summer...? Summer...? What's summer...? Well...summer is something unknown in England... Here it is...dedicated to all who loves sunny and hot days...
But to be honest I won't be in Bristol this weekend. I am off to Ireland, to Dublin in less than 8 hours...so why should I worry...? Why...?
It is very well known that summer in England is not as good as it can be somewhere else...and for many aspects this is very very true...there is one thing though that makes me love this period more than others during the year... The dusk is very very late, almost at 11 o'clock, if not later. I took a picture from my window at 23.07 GMT, pointing NW. The sky is still a bit clear, but in few minutes it will be completely dark...Tomorrow morning, before 4 o'clock dawn brakes...it is another day...
Finally...the spring has come...or, as they said on the radio, "the first summer day"...
Sunny all day long, warm...beautiful...really beautiful...!
Temperature up to 23 degrees...of course the hottest of 2008 so far...I also had my first ice cream of the season...! :)
Funny that these days always come when you have to spend the whole time
in...We just come from 3 days at home...3 dull days with some rain as
well...
I have taken a picture from my window just a minute ago...now though I am going to enjoy the sunshine at the Downs...
Bbbbbyyyyyyeeeeee...!!!!!!!!!
A month ago...just a month ago...on the 6th of April it was snowing instead...
