...and straightaway under pressure...! Poor my little car...I think she might hate me...! I collected her form the garage on Friday afternoon...and I drove to the Peak District (North of England) directly from there...Almost 700 Km in 2 days...but that was a good test to see that she is still a great car...! The response was brilliant...! Maybe from now on long distances will be banned anyhow...just for the need to preserve the car...
I am too tired to talk about anything else now...
How's the Twingo then...?
Well...it looks like she is still alive...and that already a good new...
Yesterday I was quite worried that I had to say goodbye to my little car...but today I had a phone call from the garage and they say they fixed the problem and the car is working again...!!! :)
It was a bit expensive to fix it...but at the end of the day I didn't have very many alternatives...
On Friday I will go to collect the car...and drive straight away to north of England...she will hate me...!
BTW...the problem was caused by the water pump...bloody water pump...
I called it a month ago...and here it is...the Twingo broke down today...!
The thing is...(cos I am lucky of course) that I was in London, or to be honest, on the way back from London...and I had to leave the car in Winsdor...next to the royal residency...!!! If the Queen sees it tonight maybe she will fall in love, I won't get my car back ever again...!!! :)
I heard a weird sound coming from the engine when I was almost in
London...but I understood straight away that it would have been hard to
take the car back home...
On the way back as soon as I got on the M4 the weird sound got louder and the water temperature warning light started flashing. I got off the motorway and pulled on a side... I remained
calm, maybe because I was expecting it. There is a moment though in which you
really don't know what to do...and it seems you are unable to think anything...but fortunately that was just one...
The first thought was to call the recovery service...but then I decided
to wait for the water temperature to decrease a bit and drive to the
closest garage... Luke, on the phone, told me that there was one just 2 miles away. Slowly I drove there, and park the car in the vicinity of the garage. Tomorrow morning I'll borrow Bjoern's car and go there.
Fortunately Ilaria with Alessandro and some other friends were behind me, so I got home quite easily.
This is the second time in 11 and half years that the car broke down...so I cannot complain...it just happens...sooner or later...
no matter how many times you put your hand in your pocket
you still have only eighteen cents.
no matter how many times you dial the cell phone number
you still hear a busy signal.
no matter how many times you turn the ignition
you still get the grinding sound and then the click.
no matter how many times you turn your head
there are still no cars on the empty street.
no matter how many times you look up
you still see the face in the window watching.

My little Twingo made it...! Today just off Monmouth, South Wales, she (yes because it is a she) reached the 160000 km...amazing...!
In 11 years she brought me everywhere really...! A lot around Italy...a
lot in the UK...and hopefully there is more in the future...!
I remember many great drives with her...Of course the main is the one that took me here...from Grassina to Bristol...all in a go, with no stops...23 hours and 15 minutes...to go for 1785 km across Italy, France a England...Few years before I drove to Zianl, on the
Switzerland Alps; an 8 hours drive with 4 people on board and luggages
for 4...The Twingo is never too small and always comfy...she is surprising every
time...! Another good one was when me and my friend Antonio went up to
the Abetone, 1388 m over sea level, at 2 am, in icy and snowy condition
with no snow chains...crazy! And how to forget when we went to Venice
to watch Fiorentina, and she almost lost the number plate, or when I
took Dao for the first time to Trento and the next day we went for an
amazing tour on the Dolomites, just after a massive snowfall...Stunning!
I could tell lots of stories, lots of drive...lots of little nice anecdotes
from 1997 to today...most of them are in my mind anyway...and there
they stay...and I will not forget...!
I love my car...I say thanks every time after a demanding trip...and she
appreciates it...I think she likes me as well...and even if she doesn't
say it loud I am sure sometime she thinks Cheers Drive :)
What a long journey form Florence to Bristol...!
It's quicker to get to Vancouver I guess...! :)
I left my place at 5.20pm, to catch the 6 o'clock train...
My friend Angelica picked me up at Pisa station and took me to the Airport...
We had dinner together (slice of tuna pizza) and a nice conversation on the latest news...
It's a classic, by now, to see her on my way back to Bristol...and it's always cool...
Flight to London Stansted at 9.10pm.
I was a bit worried to have problems to restart the engine of my little Twingo...
instead...once again "she" didn't abandon her captain...! It's a very special relationship between me and her...! :)
Three hours driving in the rain (as if it wasn't enough the three days of rain I had in Italy),
a cappuccino and a muffin near Reading...and back to Bristol by 2.20 am...
10 hrs after the departure from my home town, Grassina...
But that's all right...it wasn't too heavy...and there is always an iPod that helps in this...!
Going to sleep now...that in less than 5 hours I have to get up...a new week is starting...with a day less...!!! ;)
