...and it was indeed...! Just...just half a degree above 30, for the hottest day of the last 3 years...! It has been hot the whole week, with rain on and off and sunshine otherwise. Thunderstorms are expected for tomorrow...It will start to cool down now...more than 10 C˚ in couple of days...back in line with the average for beginning of July...! Cold winter followed by hot summer...mild winter followed by warm summer...something that is maybe worth analyzing more in details...
I think this summer will bring more days like this...It's not a forecast, it is only based on nothing, just my sensation... The forecast was done Saturday night...and it was right...!
Few more hours and it will be Saturday March 21st. The official beginning of the spring. Honestly looking at last week's weather, it looks like spring has already began. Sunny, warm, tree blossoms...everything already in place...but I know that there is still something the General has to say...
Winter 2008-2009 was a good winter. It was definitely the more wintry out of the four I spent here, with all the ingredients to be a proper one...! Fog, frost, snow. Fog, frost, snow, as shown in those three pictures, three shot taken in the last three months.
Winter in England is often mild and quite wet...or at least this is what it has been in the 3 previous winter I was here. This year instead it is a very cold and dry, lots of fog and frost. From the 27th of December the daily average temperature never raised over 2.3 Celsius +0.5,+1.0,+0.4,-0.4,-1.9,-0.9,+0.5,-1.6,-0.7,+0.3,-3.1,+0.2,+2.3,-2.3,+0.4 ,and the overall average temperature of last 15 days is negative (-0.35). That's really an exception for England. It was over 20 years that England didn't experience such a long cold spell. I especially like when in the day the temperature doesn't rise above freezing and yet it is sunny. I like it cos in Florence this event is so rare that I can't remember it once. On Friday the 7th instead I left work at 2 o'clock, it was sunny with -1.4 Celsius can't tell why...but I like it a lot.
I was saying before lots of fog and frost...when the two combines you get an extraordinary effect...
Never seen anything like that in 4 years I am in England...as Fabio says it will end up with a dull and drizzly day...High: +5 Celsius and 1mm rainfall... :) but it is fantastic to go to sleep with this map in mind... At the end of the day it is still mid November...winter has still to come...and excitement with it...!
While the week is flying quickly towards the end my mind is already miles away...is already off to Trondheim, Norway. On Wednesday then...I will be there as well...When in December the Uefa Cup draw , said that Fiorentina would have played against Rosenborg the 14th of February, I made the connection straight away... "that's an occasion I can't miss..."Going to Norway, in February...Fiorentina and snow...what better...!!!
However this winter seems not to be a good one... I have checked the charts
for a week by now...always the same output...it's not gonna snow...it's
not gonna be cold...temperature are expected to be 6-7 degrees above the average...sky will be clear or cloudy at the most...unlucky...! It can still change...but I would be very surprised...
It doesn't matter though...does it?
So...as I said yesterday some snow was forecasted...but unfortunately it only was... No snow...no rain...overcast all day long, very cold, light easterly wind. Max temperature +2.0 C° at around noon...! I am not disappointed as I didn't expect that much...but also the MetOffice forecasted snow until yesterday night...
Hopefully there will be some other chances to see some flakes...!
Back to Bristol...and back to work today...It's never easy the first day...but having things to do the time goes by faster...
And it was nice anyway to see some friends after 2 weeks...
Some snow is forecasted for tomorrow morning in Bristol...Will it snow?
I think it won't be a big snowfall...but we will see some snowflakes...
It will turn into rain by the evening though...
I just landed in Bristol, +0.9 C° moderate easterly wind...very cold...
